Our institution is aimed at the development of regional research and local culture in the southeastern Kyunggi, initiated as a part of HK+ Project Grundwissenschaft Section in 2017.
‘Hyang-Gi Local Centre of Liberal Art’ cooperates with other cultural, educational insitutions including schools in order to develop local culture and offer chances for the alienated. ‘Hyang-Gi’ means local atmosphere. We titled this because we’ve concentrated upon factors regaridng with the quality of local people’s lives including cultural, social, and traditional matters.
Those matters have been differentiated by
locations from locations for centuries in Korea. Each location has its own tangible and intangible heritage, from system, culture, notion, and all the way to everyday lifestyles.
The purpose of our institution is to offer diverse educational programs and contribute to the development of local culture regarding with the quality of local people’s lives, throughout pursuing both cultural homogeneity and differences.
Educational programs we provide here consist of Liberal Art Lecture for Bouncing The Olders, Korean Culture Programs for multi-cultural families, Liberal Art for teenagers, and Chinese Character Class for elementary. Additionally,
we offer some other programs into which local people shall participate, like of Liberal Reading Debate Camp and events generated referred to local history, culture, heritage, and so forth.
We are about to interact constantly with diverse local institutions and people by sharing our works in terms of local history, culture, tradition, etc. and try to make the share wider to the public all over the country. We expect our works shall be a groundwork to vitalize local culture and develop regional studies.
